Comparison is the thief of joy. I’ve spent too m Comparison is the thief of joy. I’ve spent too much time this past year comparing my life to others highlight reels. It’s been such a hard year for me living abroad, in and out of quarantine, juggling 3 babies, missing my family. This adventure is nothing like we pictured but that’s ok. Sometimes life has a way of working out the way it was meant to be. This year I’m focusing on a few goals for myself...

** travel more. Even though we can’t leave Hong Kong, there is still so much here to see and do. Looking forward to more family adventures this year and sharing more of our day to day on IG

** workout. Getting back into shape will make me feel better and be a better version of myself mentally for my babies. Also drink lots more water.

** live in the present. I’ve spent too much time worrying about when life will return to normal and planning for the future that I haven’t enjoyed living in the moment as much as I should be

** post regularly. I realized it’s ok to spend a little time for myself on my phone each day for my own sanity. Being home alone with 3 littles is hard and having a little ā€œme timeā€ is important. Looking forward to sharing more of our time abroad and growing my blog this year

bittersweet 39 week bumpdate

November 3, 2016 LIFESTYLE

DRESS: Sew Trendy Accessories

Oh my goodness! I can’t even put into words how grateful and happy I am to be 39 weeks pregnant! It is seriously a dream come true! I think when you fight so hard for something you appreciate it a thousand times more than you would have if you would not have gone through such a struggle. This 3 year journey has brought my husband and I so much closer together and we have not taken one single day of this pregnancy for granted. I’m hoping one day to open up more about our personal struggle during this time but for now I choose to focus on the positive and this beautiful little blessing inside me! I truly believe we are never given more than we can handle and everything happens for a reason. Even though I may never understand everything we went through to get where we are today I am at peace with it and it made me stronger and for that I am forever grateful!

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a bumpdate! I really wanted to be better about documenting my pregnancy journey but I’ve tried to live in the moment as much as I can through this experience. I’ve loved seeing my belly grow and feeling my baby inside. I am going to miss my little bump but I can’t wait to see what my baby looks like and what her little personality will be. I can’t wait to show her the world and travel as much as we can. I can’t wait to tell her I love her every day and how she changed our lives forever. I hope she will be kind and compassionate and love animals as much as I do. I know her puppy and kitty sisters are excited to meet her too! Of course I also hope she likes shopping and playing dress up as much as I do too, haha! We are just incredibly grateful we finally get the opportunity to be parents and share our lives with this sweet little soul we have been entrusted with.

So since this is probably my last bumpdate here is an update of where we are at in the pregnancy as of now!

How far along: 39 weeks and 4 days!

Size of baby:Ā We are finally considered full term! Baby is about the size of a pumpkin, about 20 inches long and about 7lbs! How perfect for this time of year!

Name: We really had a tough time agreeing on her name, but we have agreed on one since the beginning and it just feels right. We’re going to wait on announcing her name until she is here with us.

Where we are at now: At this point my cervix has really started to thin and I have dilated to about 1.5 centimeters! We’re getting so excited to meet our little girl any day now! I’m hoping everything progresses naturally and our baby comes into the world when she is ready. Our doctor did schedule an induction date for next Saturday when we get to 41 weeks, but as long as my blood pressure remains good and baby is healthy I will be pushing it back to 42 weeks. I want things to remain as natural as possible through labor and delivery.

The nursery: We’re getting there! We ordered her furniture from Pottery Barn Kids and the dresser just came last week. It’s been fun to finally start putting her little clothes in her dresser and get things decorated. I’m not stressing about having the nursery completely finished by the time she is here since we are only in a 2 bedroom apartment and my parents are also in the nursery during their stay with us. Baby girl will be sleeping in our room the first few months anyway in her Halo Bassinet Sleeper. We will be doing a nursery reveal once everything is ready. I’m so excited to see it all come together!

What am I most excited about: Finally seeing what my baby girl looks like! I have dreamed of her for years as we struggled to get pregnant so just knowing I will be holding her in my arms any day now is seriously a dream come true. There were so many times we thought this experience was never going to be possible for us so we are excited for every little milestone!

What am I least excited about: LABOR! I think it’s just the unknown of how and when it’s going to happen. How bad is it going to hurt? Am I going to be able to do this? I think every first time mom goes through these same fears though. I want to go into this whole experience very open minded and just see what I can do. I am very intune with my body and mind and have practiced yoga and meditation for years, although I am also not afraid to ask for help if I need it. We are delivering at one of the top hospitals in the country so I know we are in good hands. I feel so much better having my Mom here. She is such a huge support system to me as well as my hubby who will be the best coach šŸ™‚ The most important thing to me is having skin to skin contact immediately after birth and having our family bonding time right away.

Cravings: I really haven’t had any cravings this whole pregnancy. I guess I have been wanting a lot more carbs than I usually eat. I am obsessed with Eggo waffles in the mornings for breakfast haha! I haven’t had a big appetite this whole pregnancy due to all the heartburn and nausea. I usually have such a sweet tooth too and I haven’t craved chocolate or sweets that much. Very unlike me! Tums have been my best friend through the entire pregnancy!

Aversions: Oh my! I have been extra sensitive to everything this whole pregnancy! I was very nauseous in the first trimester. The second trimester I felt really good and had lots of energy although I still suffered with the heartburn. The third trimester I have been back to being more tired and nauseous. I have had terrible heartburn the whole pregnancy and have used Tums constantly. Just smelling certain foods or smells make me throw up. It’s not fun but as long as baby is healthy I can handle it. I also found that I can no longer eat dairy. I’m ok with a little bit of cheese but absolutely no milk or icecream. They make me sick almost instantly.

How I’m feeling: Overall I’m feeling very good! I’ve been blessed with a pretty easy pregnancy. I have been gettingĀ Braxton Hicks which can be uncomfortable at times but not painful. The end has gotten tough with the insomnia and discomfort at night. I sleep propped up on a ton of pillows to help with the heartburn but I still deal with that every night. I really dread going to bed at night since I lay there and toss and turn all night long. It’s the worst. No matter what I just can’t get comfy, I get very warm at night and I’m constantly up going to the bathroom every hour to hour and a half. It’s only been this bad the last few weeks though. I know the end is near! Plus I feel like it’s preparing for me to be up a bunch during the night once baby is here with us.

Weight gain: I gained about 25lbs total, but I have lost about 3lbs the last week or so. I don’t think I’ll gain any more weight since I feel so full all the time and there is nowhere for anything else to go. I have stayed active the whole pregnancy trying to walk as much as I can. I always get people tell me they can’t believe I’m in my 9th month but I think everyone just carries differently. I’m tall so I have a lot of room for baby to go. People are always so quick to judge a pregnant woman’s body whether they think you are too small or too big. As long as I am healthy and baby is healthy that is all that matters.

Baby favorites:Ā There are so many things that I just love for our baby girl! I tried to really do my research and invest in good things that will last a long time. Since moving to San Francisco this summer we no longer have a big house to store things so we have to be really careful what we buy. I will be doing a nursery reveal once the nursery is ready but here are a few of my favorite things!

Bob Revolution– When we had our house I planned on having a snap-and-go type stroller for on the go plus a running stroller for something more heavy duty. I Ā rarely ever drive living in the city now so there was no need for the frame stroller so we just went with the jogging stroller plus the adapter for the carseat. The wheels on here are perfect for the rocky city streets and hills and will be perfect when she can ride in the stroller by itself too.

Halo Bassinet Sleeper– I mentioned this above but it’s very important to us to have baby sleeping in our room for the first few months. I read a ton of reviews on this sleeper and it seems very good! The base is pretty heavy which will prevent it from tipping over and it also vibrates and has a music feature that will be nice if we need it.

Solly Baby Wrap: I read such good things about this baby wrap from other bloggers I follow on Instagram. I wanted a nice soft wrap so baby can be close to me the first few weeks but I can also move about the house as I need to. Wraps like these help promote skin to skin contact which helps build the bond between mommy and baby and makes nursing easy too. We also got the Ergobaby carrier for when she’s a little bit older. My hubby is excited to help carry her around with this one.

Aden & Anais Swaddles: I love this brand! I have bought blankets, swaddles and bibs because the quality is so good and there are a ton of adorable prints.

Moccs: I love these little shoes! So far I’ve only bought this one neutral pair but the quality is so nice I will be buying other colors once she gets a little bigger to be wearing shoes more. I think in the beginning they wear the little sleepers and socks around the house.

Skip Hop Diaper Bag: I really loved this diaper bag! I wanted something very simple and black with lots of pockets. The quality seems very good and there are lots of pockets inside too!

There are a TON more items I have that I am just loving for baby! I will link a ton more things when I do her nursery reveal. Do you have any suggestions for baby must have items? If so I’d love to hear!

xoxo
